Movie Poster Gif Tutorial

Final Result:

Okay so I’m assuming you know how to make a gif. It will be best if you use a scene that’s really dark, or has a black background.  I made mine 500x300, but if the height is a little different its completely fine.  So make your gif, sharpen and add your psd.  You should sharpen the convert to timeline way (which is a lot easier) because then you just have one nice layer for all of you frames.

So right now my gif looks like this

So next change the canvas size too 500x600 and put fill a solid black layer under your gif. Mine looks like this now

image

Since I want my gif blending in with the background, I then created a layer right on top of the layer with frames and painted black around my gif

Your layers should be in this order

Then add this texture on top of all your layers

and set it to screen

Now time for text. Make a text box on the top of you gif and write something like “From the creators of____”

and then right under the moving part of the gif write the name of the movie (or whatever your making the poster for)

My gif now looks like this

(I moved her center cause it looked better)

Then click on the name layer, and at the botton of you layers window there’s a litte fx button. Click on that and then select outer glow. Set the opacity to 50 percent.

Then add this texture and set it to screen and lower the opacity to 50

Now my gif looked like this

After you add the texture, you might have to paint a little more black because darker colors will be showing more.

It looked a little plain so I added a little more text

And I was done. You can add like “starring ____” somewhere if you want, this is just the basic stuff.

I hope I was clear! Don’t be afraid to ask if you have questions. Please like or reblog if you found this useful!
